Why choose the A-Series Double-Hung Windows?

A-Series double-hung windows are designed with beauty and durability in mind. Both sash operate and tilt inward for cleaning, the interior is real wood in your choice of species and finish, and the fiberglass and Fibrex® composite exterior protects it for the long run. Cottage and reverse-cottage sash, tall fractional grilles and eleven exterior colors make it a favorite for period homes and new construction alike.

Full Divided Light
Full Divided LightGrilles applied to the interior and exterior of the window with aluminum spacers between the glass create an authentic look. Spacer Option for Greater Energy Efficiency The Energy Spacer option is available to help A-Series products with full divided lights and SmartSun™ glass be ENERGY STAR® certified in the Northern climate zone. Its narrow design creates a 3mm gap around the spacer, helping to lower U-Factor values.

Every Andersen A-Series unit can be ordered with the glass package that fits its exposure. All options are ENERGY STAR® certified configurations; ask us about impact-rated glass for coastal wind zones.

Glass

SmartSun™ Glass
SmartSun™ GlassSmartSun™ glass gives you the benefits of Low-E glass, plus it helps shield your home from the sun’s heat by filtering out harmful UV rays. Ideal for: All Climates SmartSun™ with HeatLock Coating is also available on 100 Series windows. This prevents more heat from escaping your home but slightly reduces the visible light transmitted through the glass.
Low-E Glass
Low-E GlassLow-E Glass reflects heat in the summer and helps to retain interior heat in the winter. Low-E with HeatLock Coating is also available on 100 Series windows. This improves the U-Factor performance of the window but slightly reduces how much light comes through the glass.
Sun Glass
Sun GlassSun glass has excellent thermal performance. This glass has a subtle tint that blocks out more heat from the sun. Ideal for: Southern Climates
Clear Dual-Pane Glass
Clear Dual-Pane GlassClear dual-pane glass, which offers basic thermal performance, is in situations where codes allow its use. In North Texas, clear-dual pane glass does not meet energy code. See local code official for requirements in your area.
HeatLock® Technology
HeatLock® TechnologyHeatLock® coating reflects heat that likes to escape your home through window glass. It can be added to most of Andersen’s glass options.

Decorative and Specialty Glass

Safety GlassTempered safety glass is available on all products, and comes standard on all patio doors.

Laminated GlassLaminated glass is also available, for added strength, enhanced security and sound control.

Sound-Reducing GlassThis glass helps reduce the volume of outside noise. Available with Low-E, SmartSun and HeatLock coatings.

Patterned GlassLet in light while obscuring vision and adding a unique decorative touch to your home.

Classic SeriesThe four styles included in our Classic Series panels represent major architectural design themes from the late 1800’s through the 1930’s. Their symmetric patterns are available in distinctive color schemes as well as colorless glass, and their caming may be finished with a gold tone, silver tone or antique patina.

Artisan SeriesTwo designs influenced by 20th century American and European architectural schools feature striking visual patterns that evoke an extraordinary blend of art and nature.

Every venting window includes an insect screen; upgrade to TruScene® for a nearly invisible view.

Insect Screens
Insect ScreensFor casement and awning windows, frames are available in White or Sandtone. For single-hung and gliding windows, stainless steel springs hold the insect screen tightly to the window frame and their frames are available in colors to match the product exteriors. Insect screens have gray fiberglass screen mesh.
TruScene®
TruScene®Optional TruScene® insect screens are made with a micro-fine stainless steel mesh, providing 50% more clarity than our conventional insect screens for a beautiful unobstructed view. They allow more fresh air and sunlight in, while doing a better job of keeping out small insects.
